54th Avenue Rail Overpass Project (Surrey, City of Langley)

An overpass at 54^th Avenue is envisioned to connect and maximize the benefits of the 192^nd Street and 196^th Street Projects, and enable full mobility in the area during rail events. These three projects are collectively known as the "Combo Project." Alternative connections between 192^nd Street and 196^th Street were the subject of an area traffic study, although none of these proved to be as beneficial as the 54^th Avenue overpass.

This project may be complemented by a Rail Crossing Information System, which would notify drivers traveling on nearby routes of an incoming train, and enable them to re-route to the new overpass.

Construction of the 196th Street, 192nd Street and 54th Avenue Rail Overpass Projects is expected to get underway in early 2012, and to be complete by December 2013.
